CatWrite is operated by Reza Ilham (@erzailham), an indie developer. Contact hi@catwrite.app.
Text and AI processing
When you ask CatWrite to fix, translate or restyle text, including a practice edit, the app sends that text to the CatWrite backend hosted on Cloudflare. The backend sends it to Google Gemini to generate a result. Depending on how you use the keyboard, the text can be a selection or text before the cursor. A Style request also includes its instruction.
CatWrite does not save the edited text in the app. Your saved Styles and their instructions are stored on your device. Full Access allows the keyboard to make the network requests needed for AI edits.
CatWrite uses Gemini’s paid API. Under Google’s paid-service terms, prompts and responses are not used to improve Google’s products. Google may retain prompts and responses for a limited time to monitor abuse and comply with legal requirements. Processing may take place in countries where Google or its providers operate.
Beta signup
The signup form asks for your email and receives your browser language. You can optionally answer questions about how you plan to use CatWrite, which platforms you use and your chat volume. CatWrite uses Google Apps Script, Sheets and Gmail to manage entries and send beta emails. TestFlight invitations are managed through Apple.
Beta signup data is kept until 90 days after the beta ends. You can request earlier deletion by email.
Usage analytics
When Usage analytics is enabled, CatWrite sends fixed-category events such as edit success, failure and reaching a limit to its Cloudflare backend and Analytics Engine. The event dataset does not include edited text, Style names or instructions, device identifiers, IP addresses, tokens or user agents. Analytics is on by default; you can turn it off in Settings.
Security and subscriptions
CatWrite uses Apple device verification and stores information needed to verify installations and manage usage allowances. For CatWrite Pro, the backend may store transaction identifiers and subscription status to verify access. Operational records are kept to provide and protect the service and handle subscriptions; retention varies by record and service provider.
TestFlight and other services
Apple collects and shares crash reports and usage information with the developer; feedback you submit may include screenshots, comments and personal information. Read Apple’s TestFlight privacy information. The website loads fonts from Google. Hosting and service providers may process network and diagnostic data to deliver and secure their services.
Your information
You can ask about, correct or request deletion of information by emailing hi@catwrite.app. Requests may require enough information to identify the relevant data. Some information may need to be retained for security, legal or operational reasons, and data held by providers may be subject to their own retention practices.
You can turn off Usage analytics in CatWrite Settings. To stop AI processing, do not request AI edits. You can also remove the CatWrite keyboard in your device settings.
